Jayne Ruiz: PASTOR
Our new pastor, Jayne Ruiz, comes to us from Ohio by way of El Paso, Texas. She attended Princeton Theological Seminary and has served in churches and mission settings across the southeast, from Florida to Texas. She is bi-lingual in English and Spanish and has worked in Hispanic and immigrant ministries. Jayne loves music and loves to sing.
Jim Owens: Parish Associate
Born in Clearwater, Florida and raised in Tarpon Springs, Jim earned a B.A. in Religion, German, and Speech at Florida Southern College in Lakeland and an Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ in 1970. Ordained 1974, Jim served The Presbyterian Church at Woodbury before completing a Doctorate of Ministry Studies at McCormick Seminary in 1987 thereafter he moved to Topeka. Westminster is delighted that Jim is now our Parish Associate.
Paul Evans: Parish Assistant
Born in Newport, KY, Paul grew up in Stratford, Conn., graduated Cum Laude from Maryville (Presbyterian) College in 1962, and earned an M.Div. in 1965 and a TH.M. in 1969 from Princeton Theological Seminary, NJ. Ordained in 1965, he served in Presbyterian Churches in St. Paul, MN, Minnetonka, MN, Tribes Hill, NY, Rapid City, SD, and in Topeka he was pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church from 1987 to 2007. Paul is an accomplished vocalist, and he is the keyboardist for Temple Beth Sholom.
Brad Stipcak: Choir Director
Brad Stipcak is Westminster Presbyterian Church’s new choir director! Brad has been a music educator and choir director in the Topeka area for nearly 10 years. During the week, Brad teaches music at 501’s French Middle School and more! Brad has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Culver-Stockton College in Canton Ohio and a Masters of Music degree from Kansas State University. He served nine years as Chancel Choir Director at West Side Christian Church of Topeka and now has joined our Westminster Family as Choir Director here.
Tim Smale: Organist
Tim Smale is currently a senior at Washburn University majoring in music education. At Washburn, he studies organ with Dr. Cynthia Neufeld Smith. He is thrilled to have to opportunity to serve as organist at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Codi Doxon, Church Secretary
Codi Doxon holds the position of church secretary. She was born in Guam and describes herself as a “Navy brat” but adds that she has spent most of her life in Kansas which her family’s home. She comes from a fairly large family and says “family is incredibly important to me.” She has a technical certificate in Early Childhood Education and has spent the last 3 years, prior to coming to Westminster, working in Early Childhood Special Education as a full time paraeducator. Codi says she is a people person and is very excited to be a part of the Westminster family
Brian Vawter: Custodian
Brian was born and raised in Topeka. He is a graduate of Topeka High School. He works full-time at Logan Junior High School. He also works part-time at Second Presbyterian Church and at Westminster. He is married to Nancy and has two children, Heather and Clayton.
